Watford Folk Club presents:
The Watford Folk Club is the friendliest Folk Club in Watford. There has been a Folk Club at The Pump House since 1973 and the present Club was founded in 2008 and is run by a committee and willing volunteers, all of whom are passionate about Folk music.
The Watford Folk Club has an enviable reputation for the quality and the quantity of its floor singers/players and for headlining new and established Folk performers.
We run "Guest Nights", "Singarounds" and "Spotlight Singarounds".
On a Guest Night, a professional or semi-professional Folk/Acoustic performer will play two 40 minute sets and a number of Floor Spots are available too.
At a Singaround, the chairs are arranged in a big circle and anyone can sing a song or two or play a piece or two. People also come to the club just to listed to the high-quality music. There is never any obligation to perform!
Spotlight Singarounds feature two 20 minute sets at a Singaround from local supporters of the Club.
Admission is by suggested minimum donation and varies from £5 (at Singarounds & Spotlights) to £7 - £12 (at Guest nights). There is a real ale bar, great acoustics and a friendly welcome every week.
The Watford Folk Club Folk Song Contest -is now a permanent fixture on the folk calendar and we hope our new "Songwriters Circle" will achieve the same popularity.
Friday Evening from 8pm - 11pm
Electric Umbrella presents:
A collaboration of professional musicians and adults with learning disabilities; writing, experiencing and performing music at small pubs, big festivals, live radio and everything else in between.
We believe in a world where there is no 'us and them' and are on a mission to challenge people to think differently about learning disabilities.
Meeting weekly in Rickmansworth, Hemel Hempstead and Watford ( thank you Pump House) Electric Umbrella offer 60 adults with learning disabilities countless opportunities to get on stage alongside professional musicians and show the public at large what they CAN do.
We are challenging the perception of people with learning disabilities with thousand of people each year.
Co-creation and a 'can do' attitude is at the heart of what Electric Umbrella is all about.
Each week we get together at the Pump House on Thursdays at 12:30 pm to write and record songs, play instruments, sing karaoke, eat lunch, hang out....It's just like being in a band! We have visiting artists and workshops and everyone gets the chance to be involved on whatever level they want to.

Pump House LIVE Jazz Club presents:
During the coming year we will see some old and new faces. The return of Hugh Rainey's and Andy Woon's bands along with Doolally Tap are just a few of the gems to look forward to this year - watch this space! As the musicians get older it is essential that we encourage new younger bands and we, the audience, must adapt our music preferences to embrace the younger styles of jazz.
As we enter this year of the Watford Pump House Jazz Club (now running well over 40 years), it is with regret that Hazel Fox has for medical reasons decided that the huge responsibility of booking bands and other duties have become too much so I have agreed to take over some of it, she will be a hard act to follow.
Have a great year of jazz - contact me on the numbers below or - better still, come and visit us ! Cheers Tony Cowham
Where else can you get such a wonderful evening for only £10? We also have a licensed bar, rolls on sale, raffle and a wonderfully sociable audience.
If you cannot find space within The Pump House Car Park, there are several alternatives within walking distance, but be aware of their time limits !

An evening in the Colne River Room of music and anecdotes paying tribute to the talent and eccentricity of Tom Waits
He has produced the most amazing diversity of music: composing for music theatre, plays & films. Under the growl of his distinctive voice there often lurk sweet tunes and always haunting lyrics - he has been described as America's best lyricist since Johnny Mercer.
Covering songs from across his career we give a flavour of both his melancholy and his humour - and his range of styles from Folk to Jazz, from Blues to Rock.
Band: Steve Lodder (keyboard & arrangements); Wendy Lanchin (vocals); Gerry Hunt (sax & guitar); Andy Hamill (bass & harmonica); Tamas Teszary (drums)
Box Office: On the door ( doors open 7:30pm)
